Organizational Ombuds can help HOAs avoid litigation and:
The purpose of any organizational Ombuds Office is to be the conscience of an organization.
Ombuds have a unique ability to be both independent from an organization, yet intimately connected to its people and culture.
This allows Ombuds to identify gaps and weaknesses and make recommendations for positive change at a systemic level, while supporting and assisting the organization in being accountable to its own core values and mission statement, facilitate resolutions that strengthen relationships, restore a loss of faith or trust, and strengthen an organization’s integrity.
As a designated neutral, an Organizational Ombuds does not represent any party in a dispute. An ombuds serves to provide unbiased feedback, honest evaluation, and the unfettered ability to listen objectively.
Confidentiality allows an Organizational Ombuds to understand issues in greater detail, and informality allows parties to remain in control of the process and the outcomes.
Organizational Ombuds can operate outside the politics of an HOA. Instead, they serve as a trusted resource that can assist with dispute resolution through various means, such as shuttle diplomacy and informal mediation.
